My wife and I recently moved into a new apartment and were lucky enough to have a couple of free weeks to decide on furniture.  We did our fair share of searching, checked out Rooms to Go, Ashley, American Signature Furniture, The Dump, Crate & Barrel, the goldmine of stores on Dawson Blvd. etc. etc. etc.

Everything was picked AND confirmed to be delivered except for our sofa, a sofa we initially saw at By Design.  (I say "our" sofa because, as anyone who's gone furniture shopping before knows, once you see something you love, it's "yours.")  When we went to place the order, we found out that it was out of stock.  Damn.

Dejected, we went back home and logged onto the Italsofa (brand) website.  They have a store locator which turned up two locations in the metro ATL area: By Design and a place called Italia Furniture, which happened to be a few stores down from the former.
We made a trip to Italia Furniture the next day to try our luck.  They have a beautiful showroom filled with leather furniture, but walking through it we didn't see our sofa.  One of the owners approached us, and when we described what we were looking for, she said, "I can get you exactly what you want, even if it's not in our warehouse."  It wasn't in their warehouse, so we ended up at her desk looking at an exact blueprint of what we wanted.  Furthermore, we were able to choose the quality and color of the leather and the material of the legs.  She even gave a price that matched By Design's but also included delivery AND tax.  So far so good.

I asked, "So, you're special ordering this for us; when can we expect to get them?"

"I usually wait until I get a certain number of orders before I send them out to our supplier, so it'll probably be another 3-4 months."  Again: damn.  "BUT, we can provide you with a comparable loaner sofa in the meantime.  No cost, of course."  Yes!

So, I'm typing this review from my loaner leather sofa.  I only had to put up 50% of the total cost; the other 50% will be charged to my card on delivery.  The only negative is that my wife and I are afraid that we're becoming too attached to the loaners...

Italia Furniture bent over backwards to provide us the exact piece we wanted at a cost we could afford.  I'd recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone looking for quality furniture.

I really found this place by happenstance. It is the greatest find though. The selection is absolutely the best I have seen for quality leather. The greatest surprise was the dining, bedroom selection, rugs, wonderful lamps. Fortunately that had a model in stock and they were able to deliver it the next day. I really like the fact that they are a family owned and operated business. There is a personal attentiveness that you can’t get at a chain.

I must have called 5 or 6 furniture stores trying to find a specific Natuzzi sofa model. Every person I talked to had no trouble telling me, "No. We don't have it," and leaving it at that. Fortunately, I called Italia Furniture and Sunny went above and beyond - emailing me photos of sofa configurations they DID have, which were similar to what I was looking for. What a refreshing experience!

Yes, the wait was long because we special ordered a floor model in a different color, but it was well worth it. We love our sofa.

Also, rest assured that after the sale, they continue to maintain a helpful and professional attitude. One of the legs on my sofa was unable to be attached correctly when it was delivered. ~1 week later they sent someone to the house to repair it and, as always, followed up with a call to make sure everything was ok.

So nice to finally find a business that feels quality is important, both in furniture and service!

The worst thing about Italia Furniture is that they make everything custom, so you can't get it right away. If you know what you want, it's definitely worth the wait. They have very competetive prices and the quality is great. I paid less than I would have at a discount chain and got far better quality, and cut, color, and grain of my choice in the bargain.

If you're looking for a throwaway couch this is not the right place, but then you shouldn't be buying new anyway. Based on initial quality, their offerings will last years or decades. Definitely check them out if there's a sale going on.
